Our Method
What is the Pilates body? The Pilates body is the long, lean look, like that of a dancer.
Pilates (pronounced puh-LAH-teez) is a method of exercise developed nearly 100 years ago by German-born Joseph H. Pilates (1880-1967). It’s designed to lengthen and strengthen your body without developing bulky muscles as seen in traditional weight training. The movements are performed from one continuous exercise to the next, strengthening one muscle group and stretching the opposing muscle group at the same time. They require a great deal of abdominal control and integrate the upper and lower extremities simultaneously. Instead of isolating muscle groups one by one as seen in free weights, the whole body is trained together to obtain faster results.
Our method is designed to lengthen, strengthen, define and align your entire body. To do this, your instructor will combine the most effective Pilates exercises to develop your muscles through a complete range of motion. Our method will help you lose weight and inches, increase your lean muscle mass, increase your flexibility, develop more mobility and reduce your stress.
We are not a gym; we are a full Pilates studio that focuses on small group and individual instruction for professional guidance and motivation to obtain better results.
Unlike a gym, we don't have joining fees, processing fees or first and last month dues. There is no cost just to be a member. You are qualified as a member with us after you purchase a package of sessions. Our semi-private Pilates equipment sessions are on the hour and are 50 minutes in length. We only allow a maximum of four (4) members to one (1) instructor for these sessions to ensure that each member receives proper attention for form and safety.
We provide all of the necessary equipment including the Pilates Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector and more for hundreds of different exercises to challenge you. Your goals, limitations, and initial health assessment will help your instructor determine what exercises are going to work best for you. Most Pilates exercises can also be modified to decrease or increase the intensity.
Pilates was first created for rehabilitation, was later adopted by dancers and is now embraced by millions. You heard about Pilates, now come see what all of the buzz is about! No matter what your fitness level is, Pilates will work for you!
